Some advice re Pacific Palms

Hi Guys.

Many years ago, on the way back from flying at Cooplacurripa (does anyone still fly there?), we stoped in and flew somewhere around the Pacific Palms area. Must have been about twenty years ago. I can't remember the site now (It wasn't Booti).

I am taking the family up there in early Jan 2010 (staying at Boomerang Beach), and was wondering what the status of the sites up that way is. I remember reading about some possible issues with Booti Booti.

Having been involving in aquiring/protecting sites in the past, I am very aware of the sensitivity surrounding some sites, so would just like to get the good oil before I go, and not undo anyones hard work.

I am an advanced rated pilot, but am not looking for any major challenges, just some nice and easy coastal soaring.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks to Jod, Dawson and Matt for your help.

I did get in touch with Matt, and he got me the key to get up the hill. Wasn't looking forward to a carry up! Booti was only on once when we were there, but when it is, it is an awesome site.

Launch is bit overgrown, but I got off just fine. Didn't take my vario, but dead smooth lift to well over 1000ft was the order of the day. Just before I got to launch there were about 5 paragliders flying, but it had blown out for them by the time I launched. For those with the skill/glider/nuts, Seal rocks definately a possibility.

I flew for a couple of hours, and landed 10ft from the family on Elizabeth beach, and had a swim.

What a place.

I do have some photos, but not with me. I'll post them when I get a chance.

Look forward to meeting some of you guys sometime.

Booti flying

Hi guys,

Me and Matt Clarke still fly there. Site just still open but Nat Parks are talking to Matt re site maintenance - their idea is different from ours.

Needs some clearing each year to be usable.

Matt has key to locked gate stored at his in laws place at Elezabeth beach. You can ring me on OH FOUR ONE NINE 765715 to get more details.

We (Newcastle club) are going there to fly weekend 28th Nov.
