GULGONG
Gulgong is a small town (pop. 2000) located in the Central west of N.S.W.  28kms north of Mudgee and approx. 300kms NW of Sydney. The surrounding area ranges from hilly to the south and east, undulating around Gulgong, gradually changing to flatter landscape to the north and west. The district, particularly around Mudgee, is renowned for its wine production and many local wineries are open to the public on a daily basis.

Accomodation on the Airfield
Accomodation on the Airfield is available in the form of on site caravans or camping sites. All sites are unpowered. The caravans will be charged out at a rate of $35 per night for 2 people and $7 per night for each additional person.

Camping charges will be $7 per person per night.

This is pretty casual, pay Ian Harris on the field, no real need to book in advance.

Supermarket:     There is one Supermarket located in the Loneragans building at the eastern
                        end of Mayne Street.

Bus Service:      State Rail runs a twice daily service to Lithgow connecting with trains to

As well as the local wineries the Pioneer Museum in Gulgong is rated as one of the best in Australia and is a must if you have not been there before.

The Wellington Caves and adjacent Clock Museum is a 50 minutes drive from Gulgong.

The Siding Springs Observatory on top of the Warrumbungle Mountains is a 1 ½ hour drive to the north.

Dubbo is a little over an hours drive either via Wellington or Ballimore and is the home of the Western Plains Zoo as well as other attractions.

The Windamere and Burrendong Dams are within easy commuting distance via Mudgee and are worth a visit.

Other local interests can be found by visiting the Tourist Centres in Gulgong or Mudgee.
